Trying My Hand At Crafty

I don't have a creative bone in my body, but the peer pressure is getting to me:) Why is it that every woman I know sews wardrobes for her children, cooks 3 gourmet meals a day, runs marathons, seems to have majored in interior design, grows a beautiful garden and has cupboards full of bottled peaches and tomatoes, and refinishes antique furniture in her spare time (oh ya, and runs a photography business on the side)?

I can make a mean pan of brownies...and that is about the extent of my creative genious. OK, really it wasn't the peer pressure, but I finally have a little girl to make cute things for, so I thought I'd expand my horizons by pulling out the old sewing machine. I'm so proud of the results. Really, ask Chuck, I've been patting myself on the back all day:) I think I could get into this.

I've been using my mom's old Bernina--it quit working a few years ago and I almost bought a new one, but after several veteran seamstresses told me that you can't buy machines of that quality anymore, I decided to hold on to it and get it repaired. My mom-in-law, who is an expert at quilting and heirloom stitchery (is stitchery a word?) gave me the neatest book for my birthday that has a bunch of adorable patterns for little girl clothes. I think I'll try something with sleeves next...sleeves scare me. And I apologize for the out-of-focus photos...I obviously have some work to do before I get my photography gig going.

Great job! They are darling! - it just takes one project (or maybe 3) to get you hooked on making things. I need more time in the day - really I need to be more organized then maybe I could do more "crafts".
